We are pleased to share a new publication by Fien Messens connected to the Navez Project: Beyond handshakes: The impact of François-Joseph Navez on his pupils in Rome.

The contribution explores how François-Joseph Navez supported and guided his pupils during their stay in Rome, focusing on artistic mentorship, mobility, and social connections within nineteenth-century artistic networks. Drawing on correspondence and archival material, the article sheds light on the broader role of personal networks in shaping artistic careers abroad.

Vacature jobstudent annotatie historische 19de-eeuwse brieven

Binnen het Navez Project zijn we momenteel op zoek naar twee jobstudenten voor de annotatie van negentiende-eeuwse Franstalige brieven. De geselecteerde studenten zullen meewerken aan de opbouw van trainingsdata voor Named Entity Recognition (NER) binnen een Digital Humanities-context aan de Universiteit Gent en KBR.
